DAY 43 | Asking for No Presents

It’s that time of year again. The holidays.

It seems like the stores are prepping for it earlier and earlier every single year.

Even before Halloween you can walk in the stores and see Christmas decorations for sale.

It makes you think, hey! gift-giving season is among us and just how wasteful gifts can be.

Not only are the gifts themselves wasteful with their packaging, but the tradition of wrapping the gifts can be wasteful too.

And if you are shipping gifts to distant family members, the shipping packaging can add to the waste as well… not to mention the transportation emissions.

Now I’m going to take a big leap this year and ask everyone to not give me any gifts.

Cash will always be appreciated, of course, but for actual physical items, I’m going to take a pass.

And I’m going to ask my family now. The earlier the better because as the stores are telling us, people are shopping earlier and earlier for gifts.
